Step 1

Find the role for you

Our hiring team relies on our online application system to review applications. We don’t accept applications in person or via email. Step 2

Sit tight while we review your application

Due to the large volume of applications, only selected candidates will be contacted.

PRO TIP

To ensure you have the best chance at being interviewed, it’s important that your cover letter and resume are aligned with the position for which you are applying. Be sure to include evidence of the skills and experience in relation to that specific role.

Hire paperwork

We will send you a link to complete your hire paperwork. This is done from your computer at home, and should be the first thing you complete. Required items include:

  • Driver’s License (minimum Class 5)
  • Drivers Abstract (3 or a 5 year, pulled within the last 30days)
  • Direct Deposit Slip/ Void Cheque
  • CSO Ticket or OSSA + CSTS

Get this done before your pre-employment testing appointment if possible.

Step 5

Pre-enrollment testing

A commitment to adhere to North American Construction Group’s standards of practice for health, safety and environment is a condition of employment. All field and corporate staff are required to complete pre-employment testing.

PRO TIP

Arrive to your pre-employment testing appointment early and give yourself plenty of time to complete the required testing.

Step 6

OE 955

NACG requires you to register with the Union (International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 955) and obtain a dispatch slip. You must be dispatched in order to obtain a start date. All non-members must contact the hall before commencing work. You may register with the Union either at their union hall in Fort McMurray, Edmonton or Calgary.

Our recruitment team will send sign up information to all non-member new hires.

Step 7

Orientation

Site orientation and Computer based learning must be completed prior to starting. These courses are sent via email by our site administrators.

Please reach out to the respective site administrator if you have any questions on your CBL’s.

Step 8

Start Date

Once we have received your pre-employment test results, hire paperwork, and orientation our site administrator will contact you to confirm your start date. and site specific details.

The in-person interview

We liked what you had to say in the pre-screening process and want to move forwards with face to face or telephone interview. This will involve questions related to your previous job history, as well as behavioral and situational type questions.

PRO TIP

Do your research. Have a clear idea of who NACG is and what we do. Arrive early and ensure you know where you are going the day of the interview. Be prepared to ask questions.

Step 5

Reference check

We ask our candidates to provide two reference checks for our human resource team.

PRO TIP

We prefer 1 reference be a previous supervisor. We also accept character references. Make sure you know your references and give them a heads up if you are going to provide their contact information to HR.

Step 6
